Commissionerate Police Returns Stolen Items to Owners – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: A Property Return Mela (fair) has been held on Saturday at the Commissioner’s office under the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District.

A total of 143 mobile phones, 30 gold chains, one truck, three two-wheelers, and one laptop were retrieved from various police stations and cells in Bhubaneswar, including POPD, Team-60, and OCPO, all of which were stolen, looted, or lost. These items were returned to their rightful owners during the event in the presence of the twin city Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda (IPS) and DCP Pratik Singh (IPS).

Upon verification of ownership, the rightful owners of the mobile phones, gold ornaments, laptops, and motor vehicles were contacted. A fair was organised to facilitate the handover of these items.

The Police Commissioner personally handed over the items, commending DCP Pratik Singh and his team for their unwavering efforts and commendable hard work, which led to this successful recovery. This act highlighted the efficiency and dedication of Bhubaneswar’s police force and reinforced public trust and confidence in their work.

Notably, in the year 2024 only a total of 946 mobile phones were recovered, out of which a total of 891 mobile phones could be returned to their rightful owners.
