Hathras Stampede: SIT Submits Report To UP Govt – N.F Times

Hathras: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted its report to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the Hathras tragedy, which resulted in the loss of 121 lives on July 2.

The primary cause of the tragic event was attributed to overcrowding by the team. The detailed investigation report was submitted to the administration by ADG Agra Zone and Commissioner Aligarh, and action may be taken against guilty officers and employees after examining the report.

The local administration could also face repercussions for failing to manage the crowd properly. The SIT, led by ADG Agra Zone Anupam Kulshrestha and Commissioner Aligarh Chaitra B., recorded statements from approximately 150 individuals, including government employees and the victim’s family members.

The investigation also highlighted the local administration’s responsibility for not making adequate arrangements despite the large crowd. It was found that the event organizers were guilty, and there were insufficient crowd management measures, which could have significantly reduced the death toll if properly implemented.

The report does not mention any fault of self-styled godman Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias ‘Bhole Baba’. Additionally, a judicial commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government will conduct an inquiry into the incident and issue a public notice for local people and witnesses to share evidence and statements related to the stampede.

The majority of the 121 individuals who died in the stampede have been identified by the Uttar Pradesh government, and efforts are being made to identify the remaining bodies. The tragedy occurred when devotees attempted to get a glimpse of Bhole Baba as the event ended.
