Paris: Indian shooter Manu Bhaker clinched a spot in the finals of the women’s 10m air pistol with an impressive performance in the qualification round on Saturday.
Among the 45 competitors, Manu secured third place with a score of 580-27x, while Sangwan missed the finals.
Manu started strong and maintained consistency throughout the initial series, scoring 97/100 in the first 10-shot series, with all seven 10s being inner 10s. The 22-year-old continued her form, scoring 97 in the second series as well. By the midpoint of the six-series event, Manu had amassed 292/300, positioning herself well within the top eight needed for the finals.
Rhythm Sangwan, however, didn’t perform her best, reaching 286/300 at the halfway mark. She concluded with a score of 573-14x, placing 15th. Sangwan’s performance dipped in the second series, where she scored 92/100, despite starting with 97/100. Although she recovered with scores of 97 and 96, she struggled to hit the 10s with the same consistency.
The finals, which will see the top eight shooters compete, are scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday at 3:30 PM IST. Hungary’s Veronika Major topped the qualification round with a score of 588-22x, followed by Korea’s Oh Ye Jin with 582-20x, and Manu in third place.
