Canberra: India is set to face the Prime Minister’s XI of Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, with the two-day warm-up match commencing on Saturday, November 30.

The first day’s play was postponed due to continuous rain.

India leads the five-match Test series against Australia 1-0 in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is preparing for the second Test in Adelaide.

Their preparation for the upcoming Pink-ball Test, however, has been compromised by inclement weather in Canberra.

This warm-up match represents the sole opportunity for Indian captain Rohit Sharma to acclimatize to the Australian conditions before the Adelaide Test, which begins on December 6.

Rohit was absent for the series opener in Perth due to the arrival of his second child, but India secured a victory at the Optus Stadium by 295 runs.

Accuweather has forecasted that the weather may continue to disrupt the first day of the warm-up game between India and the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra.

Rain occurred in the lead-up to the match, causing a delay in the start as the toss could not be conducted on time.

In addition to Rohit, Shubman Gill is looking to make a comeback to the Indian team after sitting out the Perth Test due to a thumb injury.

Jack Edwards is set to captain the Prime Minister’s XI in the two-day practice match against the Indian cricket team.

The Australian team has suffered a significant blow as their veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

It is anticipated that Scott Boland will step in for Hazlewood in the Australian lineup for the second Test.
