Odisha Man Held In Bengaluru For Murdering Woman After Failed Rape Bid – N.F Times


Bengaluru: A man from Odisha has been arrested in Bengaluru on Saturday on charges of murdering a woman after making a failed bid to rape her.

The accused man has been identified as Krishnachand Seti, who worked as a security guard in the tech park and happens to be the neighbour of the victim, Mahananda, in Laxmisagar locality.

Mahananda, a native of Kalaburagi, was staying with her sister and both worked at a petrol bunk in the Laxmisagar area.

According to the police investigation, on Thursday, Mahananda took a leave from work and stayed at home. Later in the night when she was out of the house for a brief period, the accused, Krishnachand, who was keeping an eye on her movement, forcibly dragged her into his house and attempted to outrage her modesty.

But, the victim put up a strong resistance and when she tried to scream for help, Krishnachand gagged her mouth with one hand and strangled her with the other as a result which, Mahananda died due to suffocation. After murdering her, the accused wrapped the body in a bedsheet and kept it in the corner of his house.

On Friday morning, the accused dumped Mahananda’s dead body in front of her house at about 5.30 am. Later, when people gathered around the dead body, the accused came and stood among the crowd, expressing shock over the incident and avoiding any suspicion.

However, his luck ran out when police started an investigation and interrogated him on suspicion. The accused failed to give convincing answers in the preliminary questioning and soon confessed to the crime, the police said.
