Khordha : Dubai Odia Samaj & Khordha Nagarika Mancha on Wednesday demanded that centre must immediately declare Paika Rebellion as the first war of India Independence struggle. The Dubai Odia Samaj & Khordha Nagarika Mancha raised the issue in Dubai. A meeting was organized in association with Dubai Odia Samaj & Khordha Nagarika Mancha at “Hotel Grand Excelsior, Bur Dubai”. Mr. Sanjaya Kumar Das, President Dubai Odia Samaj, Preside over the meeting and demand for declaration of Paika Rebellion -1817 of Odisha as the first war of India Independence. The Chief guest of the occasions President Khordha Nagarika Mancha, Mr. Sanjaya Pattnaik, said that ” This was the first war of Independence for India which was 40 years before the revolt of 1857,which was later termed as first war of India Independence against British colonialism. Paika Bidroha was fought under the leadership of Buxi Jagabandhu. The legends of the heroics of Buxi Jagabandhu as well as the valiant Paika of Odisha continues to inspire the 4.5 Crore Odias since the last two centuries. Our fight will continue till the central government gives the status of first war of Independence to Paika Bidroha. In this programme Sk.Sabir, Manas Pattnaik, Binod Bihari Mishra, Jal Deep Singh from Gurudwar Samiti, Manoj Singh, Pabitra Barik and the representatives from Maharashtra, Assam, Gujarat, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka among others were attend and participated and give their opinion. Decided to submitted a memorandum to the government of India in this regards.
