Rourkela(11-09-22) : SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), as a part of its CSR initiative, has sponsored seven students of Deepika Ispat Sikhsa Sadan (DISS), the free school set up by the plant for the underprivileged children of the steel city, to pursue ITI at KIIT, Bhubaneswar. Notably, Deepika Ispat Sikhsa Sadan is being managed by Deepika Mahila Sanghati (DMS), a leading philanthropic organisation of the Steel City.
An interaction and counselling session for the selected students was held at Deepika Mahila Jagriti Sansthan, Sector – 2 on 10th September. Mrs. Seema Bhowmick, President Deepika Mahila Sanghati presided over the session. Mrs. Harshala Suryawanshi, Mrs. Hiranmayee Satapathy, Mrs. Samapika Sahoo, Prof. (Mrs) Susmita Das, all Vice Presidents, of DMS, Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR), Mr. T B Toppo, AGM (CSR), Ms. Namita Mohapatra, Secretary, DMS, members of the Governing Body of the Sanghati, Mr. S Mishra, Administrator DISS, Mr. S Samal, Headmaster, DISS and many teachers of the institution were present on the occasion.
The dignitaries interacted with the students and wished them the best for their academic endeavours. Ms. Munmun Mittra elaborated about the scheme.The seven students selected for studying ITI at KIIT, Bhubaneswar are Saurav Kumar Sahoo, Arbind Haripal, Sruti Muna, Alisha Dadel, Satyam Subham Samal, Jageswar Sahu and Bisakha Badaik.
It is noteworthy that DISS, has a student strength of more than 675 enrolled in classes 1 to 10. In this school, students are being provided with not only free education but also every other accessory required by a student like, books, copies, school bags to regular and winter uniforms, shoes as well as nutritious mid-day meal. The first batch of students passed out Class-10 Board conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha from this school in the year 2016.
