Renovated Doll Museum with a fresh sheen inaugurated at IG Park of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

Rourkela : The renovated Doll Museum with fresh sheen was inaugurated at Indira Gandhi Park of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant by Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge on 31st October 2022. Present on the occasion were Mr. P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), Mr. P K Sahoo, ED (Projects), Mr. S Tripathy, ED (MM), Dr. B K Hota, ED (M&HS), Mr. A K Nayak, CGM (TA & CSR), Mr. Rath, CGM In-charge (Mines), Mr. A K Behuria, CGM In-charge (F&A) and other Senior Offices of the Plant.
The decades old doll museum was renovated with all civil and electrical jobs and upgraded fixtures with fittings to suit the interiors and aesthetics of the museum. The dolls have also been dressed up with new clothing and decked up with new accessories. The placement of all the dolls has been done in a new pattern. The entire exhibit area and glass panes have been replaced with new fittings keeping in view the artistic look, safe display, better preservation and proper maintenance.
It may be noted that the museum houses more than 200 dolls made of cloths, fibre, cotton, mud etc representing the diverse culture and traditions of different states of India and foreign countries. The museum is situated amidst a newly developed lush green lawn with ornamental hedge plants.


The one of its kind Doll Museum was built in 1980s and dedicated to the public for the first time on 29th April 1982 by Mr. N S Datar, the then Managing Director of RSP. Thereafter it was last renovated in 2011.The refurbished dolls with the state of art building museum will be yet another place of attraction for the public thronging IG Park.
