Congress Strike for Kendriya Vidyalaya : What is the outcome?

Bureau Head (PKB): The strike call of Koraput District on May 9th by the District Congress Party received unprecedented support across this tribal region of Odisha. Many commercial establishments closing their daily transaction of trade and businesses supported the strike. The vehicular traffic of taxi, Private buses along with lorries were reported to have ceased their movement on the roads. Many blocks of Koraput District including the biggest Borriguma block participated on May 9th to express their fullest potential support and solidarity for the strike call given by Congress. It was known that Party workers including youth leaders of Congress became elated on the same day of the strike during evening hours by observing such massive degree of responses from every corner of the district.
On the other hand, the strike was criticised by some heavy stalwarts of BJD party cadets. While reacting to the media, the ex-minister and Senior party leader Rabi Narayan Nanda termed the strike called by Mr. Bahinipati is to hoodwink the general people. According to Mr. Nanda, ” Kendriya Vidyalaya is a genuine demand which everyone supports including me and Jeypore being the educational hub of southern odisha deserves for its set up. I also urge the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan who is an odia to expedite the process taking the long pending negligence of the centre ” He further stated ” there is a report unofficially spreading in the district through different media that the post of District Congress President is likely to be changed replacing Mrs Minakhi Bahinipati, the Present President by a new face, thus, Jeypore MLA, in order to demonstrate his potential support to the high command has played this cunning tricks. Mr. Bahinipati has nothing to do with Kendriya Vidyalaya. The BJP also charged the local MLA stating ” The Congress strike for Kendriya Vidyalaya is to divert the attention from the huge corruption charges and misappropriation of the funds meant for Jagarnath Sagar by the local Congress ”

Many general people of the district particularly at Jeypore are constantly asking about the outcome of the strike for Kendriya Vidyalaya. As there is no conduct of press conference by the Congress in the aftermath of the strike, that largely speaks about the false drama being played by Congress as allegedly articulated by a huge chunk of educated and intellectual people. This is an allegation by many people who even supported the strike.
Whatever it is, the Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati along with Narendra Mahanty, the chairman of Jeypore municipality would call for a press release about the results of the strike. If neglected, people would loose confidence upon Congress as categorically stated by many. Although there had been a gigantic loss of revenues to the district along with many untold agonies inflicted to the daily wage labourers or coolies owing to the strike, the Congress needs to release a Press Note about the outcome for the much hyped Kendriya Vidyalaya as demanded by many general public including ladies and parents.
