Ali, a worker at Bansal Traders in Subdega, was reportedly going through a rough patch in his marriage.
Sundargarh: Police have recovered the body of a 35 year-old woman from a locked house in Talsara police limits of Odisha’s Sundargarh district here today. The deceased, identified as Pramila Soreng of Ghutupada in Subdega block of the district, is suspected to have been strangled to death by her husband Ali over suspected extra-marital affair though the exact reason behind the death has not yet been ascertained.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Pramila along with her husband and seven year-old son was staying in a rented house of one Runi Kahali in Ghutupada.
Ali, a worker at Bansal Traders in Subdega, was reportedly going through a rough patch in his marriage. On September 16, he had a fight with his wife, suspecting her to be involved in an illicit affair. The next day, he even confided in an acquaintance, a liquor trader, that his son had witnessed his wife having physical relationship with another man.
Three days later, as foul smell emanated from the house and the door was locked, neighbours suspected foul play and informed the police who along with the tehsildar and a scientific team reached the spot.
They broke open the door and recovered Pramila’s body and have sent it for postmortem. Sources said Ali fled the scene along with his son after committing the crime.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
