Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to lash these Odisha districts on September 21; check details – N.F Times


Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and low pressure area, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over 12 districts of Odisha during the 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar today issued Orange Warning for next two days and Yellow Warning for a day thereafter.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and its adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. It is likely to move northwestwards across Jharkhand during next 2 days. The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Ratlam, Siddhi, Ranchi, Digha, the centre of low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.”

Light to moderate rain / thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 35.4oC was recorded at Jharsuguda and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.5oC was recorded at Bhawanipatna and Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at a one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nuapada.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 22.09.2023)

Orange Warning (Be Prepared)- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at a one or two placesover the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Deogarh.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Sonepur and Angul.
