Berhampur: A BJD youth leader of Bariguda village under Dharakote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants, today.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Mohanty.
According to reports, the incident took place at a secluded spot in the locality when he was returning home from a nearby village on a scooter.
Locals spotted the body in a pool of blood and informed his family members. Sharp weapons were found lying near the body.
Police have recovered the body, which bore grievous injury marks, and started an investigation into the incident. Efforts were on by cops to identify and trace the accused.
Though the reason behind the attack on Mohanty was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the incident might have been a fallout of political dispute that had emerged in the area during the last panchayat polls, sources said.
