Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee to form a high-level committee over the temple’s Ratna Bhandar issue.

The High Court has given the managing committee a time period of two months for the formation of the panel. Hearing a petition filed by BJP leader Samir Mohanty, the division bench of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra and Justice Savitri Ratho had on September 27 reserved its judgment over the matter.

Informing about it, senior advocate Pitambar Acharya, who was representing the petitioner, said, “The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in its affidavit submitted in the High Court has mentioned that the Ratna Bhandar should be opened for repair work to ensure its safety and security.”

Mohanty in his petition had sought direction for repair of the Ratna Bhandar and inventory of the ornaments kept inside it.
