Cuttack: Patients at SCB Hospital suffer as water supply hit – N.F Times

Cuttack: Couple of days after power outage at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here, patients at the healthcare facility underwent severe inconvenience today due to disruption in water supply.

As per reports, supply of water to various wards of the hospital came to a halt, late last night. Though the supply resumed in some wards in the morning, patients said it was not enough to meet their usage.

As the situation prevailed, attendants of the patients were seen using toilets located outside the premises of the hospital.

“A water pipe burst, leading to the issue in supply. Normalcy was restored after repairing of the damaged pipe,” an official of Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) said.

Notably, darkness due to lack of electricity supply had forced doctors to administer injections to several patients at the hospital using mobile phone torch light on Saturday.

The issue emerged in Anatomy Department, morgue, Dermatology Department, Medicine Department, Spinal Injury Centre and Laundry Plant of the hospital.

Though power was later supplied with Diesel Generator (DG), ceiling fans didn’t function in many wards, leading to harrowing experience for patients and their attendants.

Allegedly, ACs were not working properly in operation theatres and ICUs of the hospital.
