Paradip: Health Officer found in possession of assets worth crores during CBI raid – N.F Times



Paradip: Dr Rajendra Narayan Panigrahi, a Public Health Officer working at the Paradip Port Health Organisation who was yesterday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on bribery charges, has been found in possession of properties worth crores of rupees during raid by the agency.

As per reports, officers of the central agency carried out raids at multiple places including his residence in Cuttack, ancestral house in Balasore and office in Paradip.

Moveable and immovable properties worth crores of rupees have so far been traced during the search. He was taken to Bhubaneswar for further questioning, reports added.

Panigrahi was apprehended by a team of the CBI while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 at his office near Bhuian Chhak in Paradip town from an agent of Eminence Shipping Company.

According to an official source, Panigrahi accepted the bribe for checking the health condition of crew members of a ship. Allegedly, the doctor used to demand bribes from crew members of most of the ships coming to Paradip port to issue health reports.
