Baripada: An elderly man was allegedly hacked to death at Madhunanda village under Baisinga police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, late last night.
The deceased was identified as Devendra Sasmal (61). He was a farmer.
According to reports, Sasmal was sleeping at the verandah of his house, during which his son Ratnakar heard a suspicious sound. On opening the door, Ratnakar found his father lying in a pool of blood with severed head.
On being informed, police reached the village, recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation.
It is being suspected that he was hacked to death by miscreants. However, the reason behind the alleged attack was yet to be ascertained.
