Cuttack: The ongoing dispute between Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das and his rumoured girlfriend Somalika Dash intensified as the woman moved the Orissa High Court seeking stay on the marriage registration which has been applied by him with another woman.
While Somalika filed the petition yesterday, she reached the Cuttack sub-registrar office today and submitted a copy of it to the concerned officer.
“I came here to submit a copy of my petition at the sub-registrar office. I have sought for stay on the marriage registration,” she told reporters.
Notably, the legislator had on September 21 submitted an application for registration of marriage with one Pratyusha Nanda, a resident of Cuttack city, at the office.
Somalika had earlier levelled a serious allegation against the MLA accusing him of not turning up for marriage at a court in Jagatsinghpur even as the two had applied for marriage registration at the office of the sub-registrar in the district.
She had further accused him of running a sex racket. She alleged that the MLA engaged innocent girls in the illegal activity. The money collected through the sex racket was used by the MLA for election-related expenses, she had said.
Alleging police inaction, Somalika had moved the Orissa High Court seeking registration of case against the legislator.
The High Court had directed the Jagatsinghpur police station IIC to register a case against the MLA.
