Banki: A retired defence personnel allegedly attacked the Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable of the Banki police station with a sword at Adimata Chhak here, today.
The incident took place when the cops had gone to arrest the accused, identified as Saroj Das, as he had committed similar offence in the past by attacking police.
SI Sambit Swain and constable Uttam Kar sustained injuries in the sword attack. They were rescued by locals and rushed to the Banki Hospital for treatment.
Swain was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
