Padmapur: A man was found dead today while floating on river water under mysterious circumstances near Rajapada locality under Padmapur civic limits in Bargarh district.
The deceased was identified as Ganapati Behera from Barikela village under Padmapur police limits. He had been working in a women’s college in the town for the last several years.
According to a police source, some locals who had gone to the river to wash their bodies after attending the call of nature spotted him in the morning. Later, they informed the police about it.
Padmapur police reached the spot and with the help of fire services personnel fished out the body.
The reason behind his death has not been ascertained yet. “We are not sure whether he died by suicide or he has been killed by someone. A post-mortem report would help in this regard,” a cop said.
Ganapati’s body was seized and sent to Padmapur sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem and a report is awaited. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case and launched a probe.
