Private bus owners’ outfit warns stir again across Odisha from December 1 – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: Private bus owner’s association decided to go on strike again for an indefinite period from December 1 across Odisha, in case its charter of demands is not met by the State government, the association office-bearer Barada Acharya said mediapersons today.

The decision was taken in a General Body meeting of the bus owner’s association held here.

“We will stage a Dharna (sit-in) in front of the Legislative Assembly in Bhubaneswar from November 22 during its upcoming Winter Session as a token of protest. In case the Government doesn’t fulfill our demands, then we will be compelled to resort to holding a strike again. The protest will be intensified in the days ahead. Around 1,000 bus owners will take part in the agitation,” Acharya expressed.

“Once again, we urge the Government not to launch bus services under the LAccMI scheme from block headquarters to district headquarters,” the association had said on October 30.

Worth mentioning, the outfit put its stir on hold till October 31 after meeting the Transport Minister.

The association has previously decided not to provide buses on hire to transport people to the meetings and other political programmes of the ruling party.

The cease-wheel agitation was called opposing the LAccMI scheme of the Government.
