Angul: At least three passengers of a Bhubaneswar-bound bus were killed and another one sustained critical injuries as a speeding truck hit them at Baragapali in Kishore Nagar area of Odisha’s Angul district, today.
The deceased were identified as Ghanshyam Barik of Brajarajnagar, Anand Pradhan of Sundargarh and Nayan Kumar Nayak of Jharsuguda.
According to reports, the ill-fated vehicle was heading towards Bhubaneswar carrying passengers from Jharsuguda. A tyre of the bus was punctured midway, following which the helper started the repairing work.
In the meantime, some of the passengers alighted from the vehicle and were crossing the road for the purpose of attending nature’s call, during which the truck hit them.
While three of the passengers died on the spot, one of them was grievously injured. The victim was rescued and rushed to a hospital.
On the other hand, the driver of the truck fled the place after the accident.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
