Sundargarh: A middle-aged man was allegedly killed today as he fell off a tall ladder at Scan Steels Limited’s Unit-II plant in Budhakata locality of Sundargarh district.
The deceased worker has been identified as 39-year-old Charan Naik, who belonged to Budhakata village. He was working as a welding mechanic in the Mechanical department of the plant.
According to a source, the fatal mishap took place when Charan was doing welding work in the plant. He was alighting from a tall ladder with welding cables in his hands and fell down.
Charan was rescued by some other staff of the plant and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment in critical condition. However, doctors at the health facility declared him ‘brought dead’.
Views of the plant authorities pertaining to the mishap could not be obtained.
