Kartika Purnima tragedy: 2 minors meet watery grave in separate incidents in Odisha – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: At least two minors lost their lives in separate incidents of drowning in Odisha today.

A 13-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Padhuan village under Basudevpur police limits in Bhadrak district in the morning.

The incident took place when she was collecting the miniature boats floated in the pond on the occasion of Kartika Purnima today.

Villagers rescued the girl and rushed her to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. She was later shifted to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Soro in Balasore district after her condition deteriorated. However, she was declared brought dead by the doctors, sources said.

Similarly, a Class-X boy lost his life while taking bath in the sea in Puri district today morning.

The boy, a resident of Gopalpur village under Krushnaprasad block in Puri, got drifted towards deep water while taking bath in the sea near Naba village in the early morning.

On being informed, the Fire Brigade personnel rescued the boy and rushed him to a hospital in the locality. He was later shifted to private hospital in the capital city here. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors, sources said.
