Zero Fatality Week: Motorcyclist dead after being hit by bus in Odisha’s Rourkela – N.F Times

Rourkela: A bike-borne man was killed today as a bus named ‘Mayuri’ hit the two-wheeler near Bajrang Chhak at Lathikata of Rourkela in Sundargarh district on the 3rd day of Zero Fatality Week.

According to a police source, the private bus was on its way from Rourkela to Barbil when it met with an accident on the national highway. The motorcyclist died on the spot following the road mishap.

Unfortunately, a 16-wheeler truck rammed into the private bus from behind later in the day when it broke down after the first accident and got stranded on the road, the police source added.

“Perhaps the road mishaps took place due to poor visibility for dense fog,” some locals stated.

Tension erupted in nearby localities following the road mishaps. On being informed, Lathikata police reached the mishap site and seized the body. Police have sent it to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.

Police convinced the irate locals and initiated a probe into the fatal incident.
