2 Bhubaneswar-Chennai flights cancelled due to cyclone ‘Michaung’ – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: Two Chennai-bound flights from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital here have been cancelled as heavy rain triggered by cyclone ‘Michaung’ lashed Tamil Nadu today.

“Several places in Tamil Nadu have witnessed heavy rain due to the cyclone. The Chennai International Airport has been closed for flights operations till 11 pm today. As a result, two Chennai-bound flights from Bhubaneswar have been cancelled. The flight operations will resume once there is improvement in weather condition,” said BPIA Director Prasanna Kumar Pradhan.

Notably, cyclone ‘Michaung’ is likely to cross south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam during forenoon of December 5 as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.
