Bhubaneswar: BMC files complaint against contractor for not completing housing project for slum dwellers – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has lodged a police complaint against a contractor for allegedly not completing a housing project in the city for slum dwellers.

The civic body filed the complaint with the Chandrasekharpur Police, as per the direction of BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.

According to the allegation, the BMC had in September 2014 signed an agreement with a Kolkata-based construction company for constructing a five-storeyed building for around 400 families residing in BMC Mandap Basti within July 2016.

Required land and Rs 21 crore were provided to the company by the BMC in this regard.

However, the firm is neither constructing the building not returning the amount, as per the complaint.

Though the BMC had held several meetings with the concerned employees of the company asking them to complete the project, but it yielded no result.

Furthermore, the company allegedly sublet the work to various agencies without the permission of the BMC, thereby violating the terms and conditions.

The BMC in the complaint has urged for registration of case against the concerned employees of the company under relevant Sections of the IPC and stringent action against the firm.
