Nilgiri: A young man allegedly beat his elder paternal uncle to death today in an inebriated condition at Patharagumura village of Matiali panchayat under Berhampur police limits in Balasore district.
The deceased elderly man was identified as Katia Singh and the accused as Kamala Singh.
According to a police source, an altercation erupted between Kamala and Katia over an issue earlier in the day, which has not been known yet. However, things took an ugly turn when, in a fit of rage, Kamala attacked his elder paternal uncle with a baton leading to the elderly man’s untimely death.
“Kamala and his wife previously indulged in a verbal duel over a family feud. Katia had gone near them to bring the situation under control and to stop the ongoing quarrel between the husband and wife duo. Unfortunately, the elderly man became a victim of the situation,” a neighbour said.
