Odisha: BMC imposes fine on Marriage Mandap for flouting garbage disposal norms – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: A marriage facility named Laxminarayan Kalyan Mandap in Bharatpur of Bhubaneswar was imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 today by the civic body here for flouting garbage disposal norms.

During a routine inspection in the afternoon, the mandap authorities were found to have thrown the dry and wet garbage here and there. Marriages, birthday parties, and thread ceremonies are held on the mandap premises. However, garbage is not disposed of properly, thereby causing pollution.

On the other hand, the civic body has been creating awareness among denizens to strictly follow the prescribed norms and keep the city clean. BMC has been collecting garbage right from the doorsteps.

“Despite so much of provisions, some marriage mandaps, hotels, and business establishments have been violating the prescribed guidelines. Hence, we are imposing fines on them,” a BMC official said.
