Case against college principal over raping girl students at hostel in Odisha’s Jeypore – N.F Times



Jeypore: The Jeypore police have registered a case against the principal of a college here for allegedly raping girl students at the hostel of the educational institution in Odisha’s Koraput district.

As per a complaint lodged with the police, accused Deepak Patnaik had been sexually harassing several girl students for the last eight years.

The principal had threatened the victims to make them fail in examinations if they disclosed the matter.

Acting on allegation regarding some students being held hostage by the accused, police reached the college and rescued them.

While the principal absconded, police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 376, 294, 324 and 506 of the IPC and POCSO Act on the basis of complaint filed by 13 hostel inmates of the college.

Raids by police were underway at various places in the town to apprehend the principal.
