Jagatsinghpur: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted money from the donation box at Maa Sarala Temple in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, late last night.
The matter came to fore after the donation box was found in a broken state, this morning.
Police have started investigation into the incident by examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the temple.
Some portions of the temple premises were demolished for beautification work under the 5T initiative of the state government. Suspectedly, the accused took advantage of the situation and committed the loot.
Preliminary probe revealed that the accused broke the lock of the donation box using a cutter and stole around 15-20 per cent of the money, a police official said.
