Balasore: Students of Uma Arjun Girls High School at Chatar village under Nilagiri block of Odisha’s Balasore district were allegedly served Pakhala in mid-day meal on Thursday.
Expressing displeasure over the matter, Balasore Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde has ordered for an investigation into the incident.
As per the students of the residential school, the cook prepared Pakhala and fried potatoes for the mid-day meal instead of rice and dalma as she went to her house for observing Manabasa Gurubara.
While the school has a strength of seven teachers, three were absent yesterday. The school was recently transformed under the 5T initiative of the State Government, reports said.
“I have asked the concerned District Welfare Officer to investigate the matter. Necessary action will be taken against those responsible for the irregularity,” the Collector said.
