Jagatsinghpur: Police have arrested a man for allegedly looting money from the donation box at Maa Sarala Temple in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, an official said today.
The accused was identified as Rishi Mohanty of Keri village under Keonjhar Sadar police limits. He was apprehended from a hotel in Karanjia area on the basis of mobile phone tracking by cops, said Jayant Mohapatra, Additional SP, Jagatsinghpur.
Police have recovered Rs 1.85 lakh, two mobile phones and a saree of the deity from his possession.
As per reports, Mohanty had on December 11 visited the temple for planning the loot. He had allegedly committed the robbery on December 14 night by breaking the donation box using cutter.
