IED explosion by Maoists leaves two SOG jawans critical in Odisha – N.F Times



Phulbani: An IED explosion, suspected to have been carried out by Maoists, left two SOG jawans critically injured in Sirla forest under Tumudibandh police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district, today.

The injured jawans have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

“The explosion took place at around 10 am while combing operation by the security forces was underway in the area. The blast injured two SOG jawans,” said Kandhamal SP Suvendu Patra.

“The combing operation has been undergoing in the area for the last two days over suspicion of presence of Maoists. More details about the explosion will come to fore after the return of the security forces,” the SP added.

Combing operating has been intensified in the area after the explosion while an exchange of fire between the jawans and the Maoists was underway.
