2 minor girls drown while taking bath in pond in Odisha’s Cuttack, 1 more rescued – N.F Times



Cuttack: Two minor girls met their watery grave while taking a bath in a pond at Kuranga Pradhan village under Sadar police limits in Cuttack district, today. However, one more minor girl who had gone missing in the incident was later rescued and is undergoing treatment in a nearby health facility.

The two deceased were identified as Safia Khatun and Nandini Kumari. The identity of the rescued girl has not been ascertained yet, a senior cop of the local police station expressed.

According to a police source, the three minors had gone to the pond to take a bath earlier in the day. Due to reasons not known yet, they slipped deep into the water and two of them drowned.

One among the minor trio was rescued by some locals after striving for more than an hour. She was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment. Her condition is said to be out of danger now.

On being informed, a Sadar police team reached the spot and seized the bodies. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection and launched a probe into the deaths.
