Orissa High Court Judge Justice BR Sarangi set to become Chief Justice of Jharkhand HC – N.F Times

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the name of Orissa High Court Judge Dr Justice BR Sarangi for the post of Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

“A vacancy in the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand is going to arise very shortly consequent upon the retirement of Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra. The Collegium recommends the name of Dr Justice BR Sarangi, a senior puisne Judge from the High Court of Orissa, for appointment as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand,” the Collegium said.

While considering his name, the Collegium has taken into consideration the fact that after the retirement of Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, there would be no representation of the High Court of Orissa among the Chief Justices of the High Courts.

He was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa on 20 June 2013 after completing 27 years of regular practice at the Bar before the High Court of Orissa and the Supreme Court.

During his tenure of more than 10 years as a Judge of High Court, he has authored more than 1056 reported judgments.
