Bhubaneswar: Zero-night celebrations, feasts and get-togethers marked the welcoming of New Year 2024 in Odisha.
Hotels, restaurants and similar places in the state witnesses huge rush last night as people participated in countdown for New Year midnight while enjoying dance and musical performances.
Devotees thronged Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar and other prominent temples in Odisha to seek blessings of the deities on the occasion of commencement of the year.
Picnics were being held at tourist places across the state to welcome the new year.
Thousands of people visited beaches in the state, including Chandrabhaga in Konark and Puri, to witness the first sunrise of the year and offer prayers to the Sun God.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted people on the occasion.
New Year is the perfect time to look forward to new beginnings.
