Champua: The body of a youth was found today by some locals while hanging from a Palash tree with the help of a towel on the bank of Aradei river near Khendara village in Keonjhar district.

The deceased youth was identified as Harish Kumar Majhi, who belonged to Madhupur village under Sadar police limits in the district. Harish was the son of Khageswar and was a student of Plus II classes at Adarsha Vidyalaya in Jhumpura subdivision under this police limit.

According to a source, Harish was residing in a mess at a house owned by one Ganeswar Mahanta from Khendara. After his classes were over on Tuesday, he came back home and again went out of the mess and did not return for long hours. The house owner informed Harish’s family about it.

Khageswar and his wife searched for their son at all probable locations but to no avail. Later, the couple lodged an FIR with Jhumpura police. Acting on the FIR, a team of police launched a probe.
