According to a source, acting on a written complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Nayak. He was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant to recover a previously stolen motorcycle.

Following the trap and apprehension, the Vigilance officials carried out a raid on Nayak’s house.

A blanket trader, through whom the bribe deal was done, has been detained by Vigilance. The trader is being interrogated in connection with the bribery, the official source expressed.

It is pertinent to mention, a bike-borne forest guard was intercepted by a team of Vigilance sleuths on January 4, while he was carrying cash of Rs 1.53 lakh with him at the Indravati bridge near Khatiguda in Nabarangpur district.
