Minor girl from Odisha murdered in Bengaluru; stepfather suspected – N.F Times

Jagatsinghpur: A minor girl belonging to Odisha was brutally killed in Bengaluru. The family suspected the deceased’s stepfather behind her murder.

The 13-year-old girl was staying with her mother Sasmita Behera and stepfather Papu Jena in Bengaluru for the past eight months. Her blood-soaked body was found near the rented house early in the morning yesterday.

The local police seized the body and detained three persons in this connection.

According to reports, Sasmita Behera, a resident of Badabag area in Jagatsinghpur district, has two children from her first marriage. After her husband’s death, she married Papu Jena and lived with him along with her children in Bengaluru.

Her family in Jagatsinghpur suspected involvement of Papu Jena in the alleged murder of the minor girl in Bengaluru.

“My daughter Sasmita Behera had married Santosh Kumar Behera in Nayagarh district. The couple was blessed with two children (one daughter and one son). After her husband’s death, she married Papu Jena of Bhadrak district and went to Bengaluru along with her children, who were staying here. I suspect Papu Jena might have killed my granddaughter,” alleged Babuli Behera, Sasmita Behera’s father.

The deceased girl’s aunt also suspected Papu Jena behind the murder.

“My sister was staying with us after her first husband died in a road accident in Rourkela. Two years after her husband’s death, she married a youth namely Papu Jena from Bhadrak district. The couple was working in a company in Bengaluru. Yesterday, we got the information about murder of my sister’s daughter. We suspect Papu Jena’s hand in the crime as he had been torturing the minor girl and never treated her as his own child,” said Banita Behera, Sasmita Behera’s sister.
