Balasore: A 7-year-old boy sustained grievous injuries as a kite string, which is suspected to be Manja thread, slit his throat on the road near Naharpatna under Sadar police limits in Balasore.
The injured has been identified as Abinash Mahala, who hails from the district.
According to a source, the victim boy was travelling on a motorcycle along with his father when the fatal mishap occurred. He sustained injuries on his neck and left shoulder in the incident.
Some locals rescued the boy and immediately admitted him to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore town in critical condition. The minor victim was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
“The boy’s condition is not out of danger,” a doctor treating him at the health facility said.
