Jaleswar: A woman was killed on the spot and her father-in-law sustained grievous injuries as the motorcycle on which they were travelling had a head-on collision near Salikotha Chhak on Jaleswar-Paschimbada main road under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district, today evening.
The deceased woman was identified as Milirani Jena and her injured father-in-law as Arun Jena from Bartana village under Jaleswar police limits in the district. Milirani had married Arun’s elder son Chandan nearly two and a half years ago.
According to a police source, Arun and Milirani had come to the local marketplace to purchase some household articles. They were on their way back home when they met with an accident.
Some locals rescued the elderly man and rushed him to a private hospital in Jaleswar in critical condition for treatment. He was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore town after his health condition deteriorated. He is not out of danger now, a doctor treating him said.
