Bhubaneswar: Former Jaleswar MLA Jayanarayan Mohanty passed away today, informed family sources.
Mohanty was suffering from multiple ailments for a long time. He was admitted to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar on December 28 last year. He breathed his last at the hospital while undergoing treatment this morning. He was 74.
The two-time MLA was a strong Congress leader. He was elected to Odisha Legislative Assembly from Jaleswar in Balasore district in 1995. He retained the seat in 2000 Assembly elections. Later, he joined the BJP in 2019.
