Deogarh: An elephant reportedly trampled two women to death at Tipirisingha village under Deogarh Forest Range in Odisha, last night.
The deceased were identified as Surubali Kisan (43) and Khairi Kisan (19).
As per reports, the two were sitting near a bonfire when they realised about the presence of an elephant near them. Though the duo raised an alarm in this regard, the pachyderm crushed the two to death before the arrival of locals at the scene.
Police have recovered the body for post-mortem.
On the other hand, the locals demanded compensation from the Forest Department towards the kin of the deceased.
