Khordha: A 19-year-old girl allegedly ended her life by hanging herself over a tiff in love affair with a boy in Odisha’s Khordha district on Monday.
The deceased, who hailed from Sunakhala in Puri district, was working as an assistant at a private clinic in Mukundaprasad in Khordha for the last six months and residing there.
Her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta at the healthcare facility in the evening.
On being informed by the clinic authorities, police reached the spot, recovered the body for post-mortem and started an investigation into the matter by questioning the staffers.
As per the girl’s colleagues, she had been posting ‘sad’ status on WhatsApp for the last few days.
Her last WhatsApp status, which was posted at around 6 pm on the fateful day, featured the photo of a girl crying while the caption read “I am waiting for my death”.
It is being suspected that the girl took the extreme step of killing herself over disturbance or failure in the love affair.
Further probe by police was underway.
