Athagarh: Passengers had a narrow escape with nearly 21 of them suffering injuries after a private bus hit a divider near Choudwar in Odisha’s Cuttack district in the wee hours today.
The incident took place around 3 am. It is suspected that the bus hit the divider due to dense fog and low visibility resulting in the vehicle losing balance.
As per reports, the bus named Shree Laxmi was en route to Cuttack from Dhenkanal when the driver lost control of the steering wheel and hit the divider near Nuapatna within Choudwar police limits here. The vehicle consequently turned turtle trapping passengers who were on board.
On getting information, Choudwar police and fire services team reached the spot and started rescue operations.
The injured victims were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where they are currently being treated. The condition of other passengers is stable, informed official sources.
