Odisha: Miscreants loot nearly Rs 10 lakh cash at gunpoint from Gitarani Mohanty Mines – N.F Times

Rourkela/Koida: Tension prevailed after unidentified miscreants looted nearly Rs 10 lakh worth cash at gunpoint from the office of a mining firm in Tensa in Odisha’s Sundargarh district in the wee hours today.

The incident, which was caught on the CCTV installed inside the office, has gone viral on social media sparking concern about the poor security arrangement in the area.

As per reports, five masked miscreants, disguised as drivers entered the office of Gitarani Mohanty Mines in Raikela under the Tensa police outpost of Rourkela early in the morning and carried out the loot. Armed with guns and axes, they threatened the employees and decamped with cash worth over Rs 9.35 lakh. Office employees claimed that the robbers held all of them hostage and assaulted them. They even threatened to kill us if we did not hand over the key of the locker, they said.

Police on getting information reached the spot and started investigation. The approximate value of the cash looted is estimated at Rs 9,35,250. It is suspected that some locals could have been involved in the heist given the daredevilry displayed. Investigation has been initiated and the CCTV footage is being scanned to track down the accused at the earliest, official sources informed.
