Budget Session of Odisha Assembly adjourned sine die – N.F Times



Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die today, at least two business days ahead of its schedule.

The Budget Session of Odisha Assembly began on February 5 and it was scheduled to conclude on February 13. The Assembly was supposed to transact business for seven days in the Budget Session.

BJD legislator and government chief whip Prashanta Muduli brought a motion to adjourn the House sine die for the remaining period of the Budget Session.

Opposition BJP MLAs staged a walkout as they were not allowed by the Speaker to speak on the motion moved by the government chief whip in the House.

Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha had tabled Rs 1.18 lakh crore vote on account for the first four months of 2024-25 fiscal in the Assembly yesterday.

The Appropriation Bill was passed in the Assembly today.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik thanked the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and leaders of legislature parties of BJP and Congress for their cooperation in running the Assembly smoothly in its 15th session.

“This was the last session for me. I will not fight the upcoming Assembly elections in Odisha. I hope that the members of the 17th Assembly will try their best to uphold the sanctity of democracy in the state,” said Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra.
