Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today raised the assistance amount by Rs 500 in Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department (SSEPD). However, the minimum assistance amount under MBPY was fixed at Rs 1,000 per month.
This will have effect from the current month, a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) press release said.
Pensions at an increased rate will be paid between February 20 and February 25. Beneficiaries coming under National Social Security Scheme will get the hiked pension amount as per the State government announcement. This will incur an additional expense of Rs 3,683 Crore, the CMO mentioned.
The MBPY beneficiaries who previously used to get assistance money of Rs 500, Rs 700, and Rs 900 will now get around Rs 1,000, Rs 1,200, and Rs 1,400, respectively.
Worth mentioning, the State government had recently added more beneficiaries to the MBPY scheme. The present number of total beneficiaries in Odisha is around 36.75 lakh.
