Bus overturns at Taptapani Ghati in Odisha’s Ganjam; more than 15 injured, 4 critical – N.F Times



Digapahandi: More than 15 persons sustained grievous injuries today evening after a private tourist bus turned turtle at Palakhola locality on Taptapani Ghati road under Patapur police limits in Ganjam district. However, the health condition of four passengers among them is said to be critical now.

Identities of the injured persons have not been ascertained yet, a senior policeman said.

According to a source, a private tourist bus ‘Sangeeta’ was on its way from Koraput district to Puri when the accident took place. Driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control of it and overturned. Over 15 of the passengers on board were injured in the incident. The bus was carrying around 45 tourists.

On being informed, Patapur police reached the spot and with the help of some locals and fire services personnel rescued the injured. The injured were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Besides, vehicular movement was completely disrupted following the road mishap. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded as rescue operation was underway till the time when this report was filed.
