Bhubaneswar: Ashwini Vaishnaw, BJP’s candidate for Odisha Rajya Sabha elections, filed his nomination papers, today.

Vaishnaw, who is the Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Minister, submitted the nomination papers to the Returning Officer of the Odisha Legislative Assembly here.

Several senior leaders of the Odisha unit of the BJP were present on the occasion.

The ruling BJD has already announced its support towards Vaishnaw in the elections for the “larger interest of the State’s Railways and Telecom development”.

In 2019, Vaishnaw was also elected to the Rajya Sabha as a BJP candidate with the help of BJD.

The BJD has fielded Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia as its candidates for the polls. It didn’t announce any candidate for the third seat.

Considering the strength of the BJD in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, victory of the three candidates is certain.

The polling will be held on February 27 between 9 am and 4 pm. The counting of votes will be conducted on the very day at 5 pm.
